On August 2nd of this year we attended the summer concert series at Mission Hill Winery in Kelowna, BC starring the Legendary crooner Tony Bennett. We started our evening with dinner at The Terrace Restaurant.
Our first course of the evening was the Tuna tartare paired with the Five vineyards rose that was bottled the day before. Although very young the rose showed many elegant notes on the nose of strawberry and rose petal. On the palette it was dry with notes of strawberry, cherry and a hint of vanilla with a medium finish.
For the main course we had the Pork Medallions which was paired with Cabernet Shiraz. Very fruit forward on the nose with hints of strawberry, chocolate and coffee. On the palette it was dry with notes of juicy strawberries, cherries, chocolate and vanilla with a medium finish.
For the final course of the evening we had the bread pudding. This was deliciously paired with their ice wine. The fullness of this wine was detected on the nose right away with hints of strawberry. On the palette it was full bodied with luscious flavor tones of strawberry with a long finish.
The opening act was none other than Tony Bennett’s daughter, Antonia Bennett. Antonia has been singing with her father from a very young age and this experience has helped her develop a strong command of her voice.
The sun in the background wasn’t the only thing that shone that night. As her dress shimmered in the setting sun, Antonia lit up the stage with an elegance and comfortable demeanor like no other. To say she was born for this would be an understatement.

Tony Bennett certainly did not disappoint. Performing for 2 hours and enjoying every minute of it. He said at the end of the night how much he enjoyed it here and that he looks forward to coming back next year to perform again. We’ll certainly be there! It was also Tony’s 89th Birthday the day after the show, Happy Birthday from all of us here at Gone with the wine!
